I cleaned out, reorganized and took an inventory of the 85 (!!) spices, herbs, vinegars, extracts and miscellaneous ‘rubs’ in our ridiculously-disorganized spice cabinet over the weekend.
Everything was put into an Excel spreadsheet, alphabetized, and broken out into three groups by shelf: A-N on bottom shelf, O-Z on middle shelf, Misc on top shelf. The list was then printed and taped to the inside of the cabinet door. Never again will we search endlessly for the marjoram or wonder if we still have the tarragon we bought for that recipe one time. Never!
And yes, in case you were wondering, I am insane.
